Tim Smeulders

Tim SmeuldersTheory and education wasn't my thing when I was a little boy. Although my scores weren't bad in school, I still was more of a dreamer and a creative soul. Always drawing stuff in class rather then paying attention to what the teacher was talking about.

So after my "basic" training, at the age of 18, I went to an art school and studied animation film for 4 years where I got my master degree in the year 2000.

Now it was time for the real deal: A JOB. Sadly enough, animation film isn't greatly supported in Belgium so I stumbled into the world of DVD testing.

Tim SmeuldersAfter a few years of settling down and finding my way in life I began to miss my world of fantasy and creation, which I enjoyed so much in the past. I wanted to be creative again!

And that's when it happened. While surfing on the internet, I stumbled on a book by David Kracov: "Modeling with Polymer Clay". This book changed my life. I found a new way of being creative by making sculptures.
I like drawing, but prefer sculpting because you can create something special which you can feel and touch. Something you can pick up and look at from every angle and be amazed by every aspect of it.

Because of my daily job, I'm only sculpting in my spare time and as you can see on my website; my sculptures are varied and not directed into a specific area, theme or style.

Tim SmeuldersI'm still searching for what I want to achieve and walking the path of knowledge. One thing I'm really sure of though. And that's creating a new believable world, like Wendy and Brian Froud did and still do with their "World of Froud", which also inspired so many people. Only the future will tell…
